Trying to be an organized mother

Holy socks, an all carb dinner, brownies for breakfast, running late and is that my kid that smells? A daily journey of one mom trying to manage it all, And making improvements one day at a time.

The really terrible horrible day.

Yesterday was bad. Really bad.

It began with a screaming match in the hallway with my almost four year old, continued as we were 20 minutes late for school, and when I picked him up he had bitten his friend and busted his lip.
Then he peed on the floor....are you kidding?
The night ended with my baby running happily and crazily around the house until almost three in the morning.
Is it any wonder that I didn't get something posted yesterday?

Being late for school isn't unusual. Even on a "good" day we're late. This is particularly embarrassing because school doesn't start until 9 and we live 200 yards from the front door.

School mornings make me crazy and I think I begun to identify the problems.....

1. I sleep until the kids wake me up usually between 7:30 and 8.

2. The kids watch tv, so they are like zombies and getting them to do anything (get dressed, brush teeth, put on shoes) is nearly IMPOSSIBLE!

Here's the goal...get up at 7 and make lunches and get myself ready before my darlings rise...and dare I say, no cartoons on school mornings? We're going to give it a shot.....

Here's a great idea from Brittany, I already got my calendar and its getting all marked up.

[I use] A planner that I write all the important activities...playdates/doctors/etc. I also keep notepads next to the phone for messages, on the fridge when I run out of something it gets put on the notepad, or I don't throw the container away so I'll see it later and remember it. I don't plan too much for one day because it sets me up for failure. But if the boys are being good after playdate, I can sneak in a post office trip and save it from being a project the next day. I write everything down. Get it outta my head. "Call Mary. Kareem is being cranky. Anas has Bball tomorrow. Etc."It may sound crazy but t works.

  1. I loved your comment about the "1 used cheerio". Probably wouldn't be something too out of the norm around here.

School mornings are crazy but I do as you said above. I get up, shower and dressed (now sometimes that is just a ball cap/tshirt/jeans..but hey I am dressed) before either of the boys wake up. I then get Ryder and we go get Rustin together. We get Rustin's diaper changed and his clothes on for the day. I get Ryder to the table and he is able to watch cartoons while he eats (the one meal a day I allow this). I feed Rustin his bottle and Ryder is usually still grazing on his food while watching cartoons. I take this opportunity to get his bag packed and lunch prepared...put it all in the car and then get Ryder dressed. Then we all hit the car and get to school right on time.

This is a great idea! You'll be one of those famous bloggers before we know it! ;-)
